Messina to launch new Restorative Justice Center

The new Restorative Justice Center for the District of the Court of Appeal of Messina will be officially presented on Tuesday, September 29. The presentation will take place during a conference titled ‘The Restorative Justice Center of the Municipality of Messina: Institution, Functions, and Perspectives’ at Palazzo Zanca.

Established in accordance with Legislative Decree 150/2022, the Center is the result of a shared administration model between the Municipality of Messina and the Spondé ETS Association, in collaboration with the University of Messina. The initiative aims to combine institutional competencies with the specialized experience of the association to facilitate dialogue and encounter between individuals involved in criminal events.

The Municipality of Messina, led by Mayor Federico Basile, played a central role in developing this territorial outpost through its Department of Social Policies. The Center is designed to serve as a qualified local hub for implementing restorative justice programs.
