Messina volunteer group hosts fundraiser for pediatric hospital wards

The volunteer association ABC Amici dei Bimbi in Corsia will hold its “Giornate in Piazza” event in Piazza Cairoli, Messina, on October 10 and 11. The initiative aims to raise funds to improve the hospital environments and the stay of young patients in the pediatric wards of the Policlinico di Messina.

During the event, volunteers will distribute plants in exchange for financial contributions. These funds support projects designed to humanize pediatric departments, making them more welcoming and child-friendly. Previous accomplishments by the association include renovating pediatric elevators, purchasing specialized beds for mothers, and creating equipped kitchens and playrooms.

In collaboration with Ospedali Dipinti, the association has also transformed hospital spaces through themed decorations. Notable projects include the “Isola del Sorriso” in the Child Neuropsychiatry waiting room and the “Il Mare in corsia” theme in the Pediatrics department, which uses marine imagery to create a more serene atmosphere for children.
