Messinia promotes experiential tourism through traditional grape harvesting
The Messinia Association of Catering and the Messinia Forum, in collaboration with the platform experienceskalamata.com, are promoting experiential tourism in the Messinia region of Greece. A recent initiative focused on the traditional grape harvest, known as 'trygos', allowed visitors to participate actively in the process by harvesting grapes and using traditional treading methods.
This initiative aims to establish the region as a high-quality, self-sufficient tourist destination that operates 365 days a year. By transforming cultural and gastronomic heritage into hands-on experiences, organizers hope to create a central attraction for travelers, laying the groundwork for future tourism seasons, including autumn 2027.
