Mestre railway station renovation begins with temporary facilities
Renovation works for the Mestre railway station have entered an operational phase involving the relocation of essential services and the preparation for major demolitions. To maintain service continuity, a temporary 600-square-meter station is being established, which is expected to be completed by mid-November. This temporary facility will include two entrances in via Trento and a bar located on the ground floor of the multi-story garage.
The project involves significant logistical changes, including the partial demolition of existing structures and the resizing of commercial areas such as McDonald’s and the Giunti bookstore. Passenger services will be adjusted, with trains expected to stop slightly further east than their current positions.
Commuters and local traffic will face several disruptions. Via Trento will become a one-way street, and certain sections of the road will be closed for setup. Parking arrangements are also being modified: the Piazzale Favretti parking area will serve as a construction site, while tourist bus stops will be relocated to via Ca' Marcello. The entire reconstruction process is projected to last approximately five years.
