Met Police sergeant charged with perverting course of justice

Metropolitan Police Sergeant Sadiq Al-Hasani, 37, has been charged with perverting the course of justice following an investigation into conduct at Charing Cross Police Station. The charge follows an inquiry by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) into an incident occurring on October 2, 2025. It is alleged that Al-Hasani attempted to discourage a junior officer from providing a statement to the IOPC regarding an investigation sparked by the BBC Panorama programme, ‘Undercover in the Police’.

The Panorama documentary featured undercover footage showing officers making racist remarks and discussing violence against suspects. The IOPC investigation into the station has resulted in 15 officers being found guilty of gross misconduct, with all but one barred from policing. An additional 15 officers and staff members remain under investigation. Al-Hasani is scheduled to appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on September 30.
