Meta adds paid subscription limit to Conversation Focus on its smart glasses
Meta has introduced a new subscription, the Meta One Premium Plan, that restricts the use of the Conversation Focus feature on its smart glasses. Users can access Conversation Focus for up to three hours per month at no cost; the paid plan, priced at $19.99 per month, raises the limit to 15 hours but does not make it unlimited.
The feature, which enhances the speaker’s voice in noisy environments via on‑device beamforming and AI, runs entirely on the glasses and does not require Meta’s servers, prompting criticism that the limit is purely commercial. Meta spokesperson Tyler Yee said the plan is aimed at “power users” and that other core functions remain free. Analysts note the move reflects Meta’s broader effort to monetize its hardware after cutting prices and workforce, and compare it to potential subscription strategies from competitors such as Google and Apple.
