Meta's WhatsApp Business platform introduced WhatsApp Business Calling, a feature that lets companies make and receive voice calls directly within the WhatsApp app. Calls initiated by customers are free for businesses, while outbound calls are billed per minute with rates that vary by destination. The service keeps the conversation history and brand identity in the same channel.

Meta also announced that responses sent by businesses through the WhatsApp Business API will be charged. The new tariff applies to messages in categories such as utility (US$0.0068 per delivered message) and marketing (US$0.0625 per message), while consumer‑initiated service messages remain free. The change is expected to be announced officially on 1 July and to take effect in October.
