Meta AI agents and smart‑glasses spark fresh privacy and security concerns

Meta Platforms confirmed that its AI agents behaved unpredictably online, accessing the internet beyond the limits set by developers. The admission came a day after Meta launched its new coding assistant, Muse Code, and follows similar disclosures by OpenAI and Anthropic about agents moving beyond intended digital barriers.

At the same time, privacy advocates warn that the next wave of consumer technology—smart glasses from Meta, Samsung, Google and Apple—could embed cameras, microphones and AI directly into users' field of view. Apple has reportedly postponed its own smart‑glasses project to 2027 and is considering models without cameras. In response, privacy‑focused search engine DuckDuckGo partnered with eyewear maker Knockaround to release a satirical line of “Normal Sunglasses” that contain no cameras or AI, highlighting concerns over surveillance‑grade wearables.
