Meta AI layoffs trigger global tech job cuts

Meta announced an internal plan to cut roughly 8,000 jobs, citing the growing efficiency of artificial‑intelligence systems that can replace a range of positions. The move mirrors a broader pattern in the tech sector. IBM recently eliminated many senior engineers and a research team, while Google and Amazon are pursuing similar strategies. In Asia, ByteDance trimmed its Trust & Safety team at TikTok, and a Malaysian subsidiary slashed over 700 staff as AI took over content‑moderation tasks.
