Nvidia tops market value as AI fuels financing, investment and strategic competition

Nvidia surged to become the world’s most valuable company with a market capitalisation of about $4.77 trillion, overtaking Apple and Alphabet, whose valuations stand at $4.56 trillion and $4.44 trillion respectively. The rise reflects the growing demand for AI‑focused hardware and services.

In the United States, major tech firms are mobilising billions to expand AI infrastructure. Meta and BlackRock announced a $14 billion data‑center project in Texas, with BlackRock providing roughly 80 % of the financing. The debt issuance carried a spread of 2.88 percentage points, higher than the 2.25 points for a previous AI‑related project, indicating waning investor enthusiasm. AI‑linked corporate bonds now represent about 15 % of all US bond issuances this year, a twenty‑fold increase from a year earlier.

A coalition of AI researchers and executives from Anthropic, OpenAI, Google DeepMind and Meta AI signed the “Pacing the Frontier” manifesto, urging the United States to lead an international framework for AI governance and safety.

Analysts also note that the United States’ AI lead is narrowing as Chinese companies such as DeepSeek, Moonshot AI, Alibaba, Tencent, Zhipu AI and MiniMax launch large‑scale language models, prompting concerns about a strategic shift.

In the financial sector, AI is reshaping credit markets. Blue Owl highlighted how AI helps identify low‑risk sectors and finances data‑center infrastructure, while a Bain & Company study found that banks built around AI can achieve up to ten‑fold productivity gains and launch products 90 % faster. Meanwhile, investors are cautioned that not every AI‑branded firm will succeed; chip makers like Nvidia remain central, and Chinese tech groups are rapidly closing the valuation gap.

In Brazil, a survey showed that 66 % of respondents use AI tools, though only 9 % apply them to personal finance, with 64 % expressing interest in doing so.
