Meta and Chinese brands drive projected surge in AR glasses shipments

The global augmented reality (AR) glasses market is expected to experience significant growth, with shipments projected to rise from 620,000 units in 2025 to 1.31 million units in 2026, representing a 111.1% year-over-year increase, according to TrendForce.

Meta is expected to maintain market leadership with an estimated 20% shipment share in 2026. Other major players contributing to a combined 53.2% market share include XREAL, Even Realities, Rokid, and RayNeo. While Meta's Ray-Ban models have demonstrated strong momentum, Chinese brands are aggressively expanding their product lines to capture the consumer market.

Technological advancements in display engines are also driving this expansion. OLEDoS and LEDoS technologies are expected to account for approximately 80% of the market. While OLEDoS is widely used in viewing-oriented products, LEDoS is central to lightweight, information-display glasses. The industry is currently working to overcome technical barriers, such as transitioning from single-color to full-color displays, to expand application boundaries.
