Instagram bans Meta smart‑glass videos that harass or record users

Instagram announced a new policy that will delete any content filmed with Meta’s smart glasses when it harasses, exploits or records people without their consent. Head of Instagram Adam Mosseri said videos that take advantage of others – including "pickup" style approaches, pranks aimed at service‑industry workers, and covert recordings – will be removed and the accounts that post them can be suspended or disabled. Business Insider reported that two Instagram accounts each with more than one million followers have already been taken down under the new rule. Meta also updated the glasses so that the LED recording indicator, if tampered with or covered, will automatically shut off the camera, making secret recording harder. The enforcement applies worldwide, with reports from the United States, Brazil, Italy, Turkey, China, Germany, Austria and France describing the same policy shift.
