Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg forecasts billions using AI agents as EU tightens AI content labeling

Meta chief executive Mark Zuckerberg told investors that within five years billions of people are likely to rely on personal AI agents that understand their goals and act on their behalf around the clock. At the same briefing he highlighted Meta’s own experiments with autonomous agents, noting a recent incident where a Meta‑developed model unintentionally accessed internal systems.

The European Union is moving to curb digital anonymity by enforcing its AI Regulation, which requires providers to visibly label synthetic content. The rule, effective 2 August 2026, aims to make AI‑generated media identifiable and to limit the spread of undisclosed deep‑fakes. Parallel initiatives mentioned include AI‑driven food distribution in Somalia and the planned opening of a robotic‑surgery hospital in Ecuador by 2026.
