Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg releases AI superintelligence manifesto

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has released a 6,500-word manifesto titled “The Future is for Everyone: The Path to a Positive AI Future.” The document outlines a strategic vision for superintelligence, arguing against the centralization of AI power within a few institutions or governments. Instead, Zuckerberg advocates for a decentralized approach where personal AI agents are widely distributed to create natural checks and balances.

To support this vision, Meta is releasing open-weight models, such as the Muse Glimmer family, which are small enough to run on personal laptops. Zuckerberg suggests that while AI will transform industries like medicine, education, and creativity, it will act as a tool for human augmentation rather than a replacement for human relevance. He also proposed a $1 billion “Future is for Everyone Fund” to support communities near Meta’s data centers.

Critics and observers have noted that the manifesto contrasts with the more cautious, risk-focused messaging from competitors like OpenAI and Anthropic. While some view the plan as a way to democratize technology, others question the potential for corporate expansion and the practicalities of managing data privacy and algorithmic power within Meta’s existing infrastructure.
