Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg launches AI optimism campaign as shares dip

Meta’s chief executive Mark Zuckerberg released a new video campaign that portrays artificial intelligence as a tool to empower people rather than replace them. The ad, titled “Call us optimists, call us dreamers,” rebuts narratives that AI will isolate users and underscores Meta’s long‑standing mission to help people connect. Zuckerberg’s narration says, “Some people will have you believe AI will make us less connected… we couldn’t disagree more,” and affirms that “the future is for everyone.” The campaign is being rolled out over the coming months to counter AI‑doomerism.

At the same time, Meta’s stock fell 2.6 % to $627 after Zuckerberg warned that the company’s AI infrastructure development was progressing too slowly. A TradingView analyst projected a possible correction to $485, with a further decline to $450 if support fails. The share drop follows Meta’s recent layoffs of nearly 8,000 staff and a hiring freeze affecting 6,000 roles, which have drawn a disability‑discrimination lawsuit from former employees. The juxtaposition of the optimism push and the market reaction highlights the company’s challenge of balancing AI ambitions with investor expectations.
