Meta CTO Addresses AI Reorg Fallout, Promises Greater Employee Stability

Meta Platforms’ chief technology officer, Andrew Bosworth, told staff that the recent reorganization of the company’s artificial‑intelligence division was handled poorly. He said the AI restructuring “was atrocious” and that morale is among the lowest in two decades. Bosworth pledged clearer communication, more transparent leadership, and restored workplace perks such as travel budgets, events and snacks.

The memo follows Meta’s May 2026 layoff round that cut roughly 8,000 jobs – about 10% of its global workforce – and the reassignment of thousands of employees to new AI‑focused teams. The company also plans to let staff move out of AI roles if they wish. These steps aim to rebuild trust, stabilize career paths and position Meta as “the best place for the best people to do their best work.”
