Meta to launch Hatch AI agent and deploy millions of AWS Graviton cores
Meta Platforms is preparing to launch a new consumer-grade AI agent named Hatch, expected to debut between late August and early September. Unlike traditional chatbots, Hatch is designed to act as an autonomous agent capable of interacting with external services and websites, including DoorDash, Etsy, Reddit, Yelp, and Microsoft Outlook, to complete tasks on behalf of the user.
To monetize this technology, Meta is considering a tiered subscription model, with premium tiers potentially costing as much as $199.99 per month. This move aligns with CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s strategy to diversify revenue streams beyond advertising. Additionally, Meta is reportedly working on a next-generation AI model codenamed Watermelon, slated for release in October.
In a separate infrastructure move, Meta has entered a major agreement with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to deploy tens of millions of AWS Graviton5 CPU cores. This deployment aims to support the high demand for CPU-intensive AI workloads, such as real-time reasoning and multi-step task orchestration, marking a shift toward more diverse hardware architectures in AI data centers.
