Meta focuses on AI talent and leadership strategy
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has made several notable appearances highlighting the company’s strategic focus on artificial intelligence and executive management. At the Meta Connect event, Zuckerberg introduced Alexandr Wang, Meta’s AI Director, who was reportedly brought to the company in a deal valued at approximately $14.3 billion. Wang, the co-founder of Scale AI and a graduate of MIT, represents a significant talent acquisition for Meta’s AI ambitions.
Regarding compensation, Zuckerberg continues to maintain a nominal annual salary of $1. However, Meta spent $25.1 million last year on his personal security. While Zuckerberg was not included in a recent round of massive stock option grants awarded to other top executives—such as CTO Andrew Bosworth and CFO Susan Li—the company is using these high-value incentives to retain key personnel essential to its AI strategy.
In a separate observation, Zuckerberg was recently seen using a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra during an interview. The choice of a slightly older flagship model, rather than the most recent iterations, drew attention from tech observers.
