Meta halts Project OT AI workforce restructuring plan
Meta has halted its ambitious 'Project OT' (Organization Transformation) plan, an initiative designed to replace significant portions of its human workforce with AI agents. While the company completed an initial wave of layoffs in May 2026—cutting approximately 8,000 employees or 10% of its global staff—it canceled a second, more aggressive wave of layoffs originally scheduled for November 2026.
