WhatsApp tests Liquid Glass UI and AI-driven security features
WhatsApp is undergoing significant updates involving both visual design and artificial intelligence integration. For iOS users, the platform is testing a “Liquid Glass” UI style. This visual overhaul, aimed at creating a more cohesive interface, is being applied to the drawing editor and the video player progress bar, featuring translucent and glass-like effects.
On the functional side, Meta is developing AI-driven features. One tool uses Meta AI to automatically expand photos to a 9:16 vertical aspect ratio, optimized for mobile stories. Additionally, WhatsApp is testing an AI-powered fraud detection system designed to identify phishing and social engineering patterns. To maintain end-to-end encryption and user privacy, this security feature is expected to utilize on-device processing and metadata analysis rather than reading the literal content of private messages.
