Meta implements unified Meta Account for cross-platform management
Meta is transitioning its various platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Threads, and WhatsApp, into a unified system known as the ‘Meta Account’. This change allows users to manage logins, privacy settings, and personal details centrally across different apps and devices, such as Meta AI and AI glasses.
The transition is designed to be automatic for existing accounts, though users retain the option to use services via separate accounts. Key features of the new system include improved security through passkeys—allowing login via fingerprint or facial recognition—and centralized control over privacy and advertisement preferences. While the account structure is being unified, individual user profiles, followers, and content like Stories will remain distinct within their respective apps.
