Meta India Head Arun Srinivas Booked Over Alleged Offensive Posts Targeting PM Modi

Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police filed FIRs against Meta India head Arun Srinivas and several Facebook and Instagram accounts for allegedly circulating morphed, AI‑generated images and videos that depicted Prime Minister Narendra Modi in an obscene and derogatory manner. The posts were shared during the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protests linked to the NEET‑UG paper‑leak controversy. Complaints were lodged by businessman S. Aravind Reddy and Telangana BJP activist T. Saikiran Goud, who provided URLs of the disputed content. The case was registered under Sections 66(C) and 67 of the Information Technology Act and Sections 353(2) and 336(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Meta said it is in touch with the concerned agencies and is cooperating fully with the investigation. The development follows heightened scrutiny of Meta’s content‑moderation practices in India and recent government demands for tighter oversight of the platform.
