Meta informs TSE of equal treatment for Lula and Flávio Bolsonaro

Meta has informed Brazil’s Superior Electoral Court (TSE) that it has implemented measures to ensure equal treatment for the presidential candidacies of Lula (PT) and Flávio Bolsonaro (PL).

The company stated that content related to both campaigns is subject to identical rules and criteria. Additionally, Meta reported that automated restrictions on campaign advertisement accounts are now being submitted for human review within a two-hour window. In a report to the court, Meta noted it analyzed 1,204 flagged publications, resulting in the removal of 720 posts, while 270 contained synthetic content identification and 214 were deemed unrelated to electoral content.

Regarding a court order to restrict recommendations for collaborative posts, Meta cited a ‘technical limitation.’ The company explained that because a ‘collab’ post is a single object shared across multiple profiles, it is not possible to restrict its recommendation on a candidate's official profile without also affecting its distribution on the co-author's profile.
