Meta deploys new AI tools for child safety and advertising

Meta has announced several major updates involving artificial intelligence, focusing on both advertising capabilities and child safety.

To combat child sexual exploitation, Meta is deploying new AI tools designed to detect ‘signposting’—a tactic where seemingly harmless advertisements covertly direct users to illegal material hosted on external sites. The company reported that between January and June 2026, it actioned 33.2 million pieces of exploitation content globally, with over 97% detected proactively. In India, Meta actioned 5.3 million pieces of such content during the same period, with a proactive detection rate exceeding 98%.

On the business side, Meta is expanding its AI-driven advertising suite. This includes an upgraded Meta AI Business Assistant that allows advertisers to plan, create, and manage campaigns through conversational prompts. New tools also assist with audience discovery, creative asset generation, and video modification. Additionally, the company is introducing Meta One, a new subscription service that offers expanded AI access and premium business features, with monthly plans ranging from $15 to $500.
