Meta introduces AI tools for WhatsApp Business setup

Meta has introduced the WhatsApp Business Tools MCP (Model Context Protocol), a new system designed to allow AI agents to manage technical setup and configuration tasks for WhatsApp Business accounts.

By utilizing the Model Context Protocol, the tool connects AI coding assistants—such as Claude, Cursor, Codex, and ChatGPT—directly to the WhatsApp Business Platform. This allows developers to perform complex tasks through natural language conversations rather than manually navigating between developer consoles, business managers, and API documentation.

Key capabilities of the AI agents include creating business accounts, adding and verifying phone numbers, registering for Cloud API access, and reviewing service terms. Developers can also use the tools to generate or modify message templates, test messages and webhooks, and troubleshoot errors related to business verification or payment methods. Meta also provides a Social Technologies MCP to assist AI agents in locating API endpoints and searching technical documentation.
