Meta introduces new WhatsApp Business API messaging fees

Meta is implementing a new tiered, usage-based pricing model for the WhatsApp Business Platform/API, effective October 1. The new structure targets medium and large enterprises that use the platform for customer service and automated support.

Under this model, the first 1,000 messages sent by a business number each month remain free. Once this threshold is exceeded, companies will be charged per message. The cost of these messages varies significantly based on the recipient's country and the type of message sent (such as utility or marketing messages).

In Bahrain, for example, service messages after the free tier cost approximately 0.0091 USD per message. Other regional rates include 0.0036 USD in Egypt, 0.004 USD in Algeria, 0.0079 USD in Iraq, and 0.0157 USD in the United Arab Emirates. Marketing messages generally command higher rates across most markets. This shift moves Meta away from previously free service message models toward a system where every communication is financially accountable based on volume and destination.
