Meta, Italy: Officials target illegal coastal building amid owner's legal threat

During an inspection in Meta, Naples, officials led by Borrelli identified an unauthorized building on the beach near Alimuri Conca. Mayor Peppe Tito announced plans to proceed with the demolition of the structure, which is described as a dangerous eyesore on the Sorrento coast, with the approval of the demolition plan expected by September 4.

In response to claims made during the inspection, Roberto Porzio, owner of the property known as ‘Casa Caterina’, has denied all allegations of illegality. Porzio stated that the claims made by those accompanying Borrelli are ‘false, slanderous, and totally unfounded.’ He asserted that the residence is fully compliant with regulations and announced that legal action is being prepared against those who have spread defamatory comments online.

Local concerns were also raised regarding coastal erosion near Alimuri, attributed to public works on the port, and the lack of free beach space in the area.
