Meta releases $299 AI‑powered smart glasses
Meta announced the launch of its new Meta Glasses, a $299 AI‑enabled wearable developed with EssilorLuxottica. The lineup includes three frame styles – Adventurer, Fury and a Kylie Jenner‑collaborated model – all marketed without the Ray‑Ban logo. Each pair houses a camera, open‑ear speakers, a multi‑mic array and up to eight hours of battery life, with a charging case extending use to roughly 40 hours.
The glasses run Meta’s Muse Spark AI model, accessed via a dedicated button for voice queries, translation, navigation and hands‑free photo or video capture. The devices are sold through Meta’s website and major retailers such as Amazon, Best Buy and LensCrafters, and are available in multiple markets worldwide.
Meta now controls about 84% of the global smart‑glasses market, according to Counterpoint Research, and the low‑price entry aims to broaden consumer adoption against competitors like Google’s AI‑eyewear partnership and Snap’s $2,195 premium model.
