Meta launches $299 Meta Glasses with AI-powered features

Meta Platforms announced the launch of Meta Glasses, a new line of affordable smart glasses priced from $299. The collection includes three frame styles, with a fashion‑inspired variant developed with Kylie Jenner retailing at $399. The glasses are produced in partnership with EssilorLuxottica and will be sold in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and several European markets including Germany, France, Italy and Spain.

All models integrate Meta’s first proprietary AI model, Muse Spark, which powers on‑device voice interaction, open‑ear speakers, a multi‑mic array, more than eight hours of battery life and configurable privacy settings. Muse Spark is designed for low‑compute inference on wearables and has been benchmarked at a score of 52 on the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index. Meta says the AI system can operate in three modes—Instant, Thinking and Contemplating—to balance response depth and energy use.

The launch comes as competition in the smart‑glasses sector intensifies, with Apple, Google and Samsung expected to release their own devices later this year. Market analysts estimate Meta now holds roughly 69 % of the smart‑glasses market. Privacy advocates have raised concerns after a report that Meta briefly embedded a facial‑recognition feature, called NameTag, into its AI companion app before removing it.
