Meta launches AI-powered smart glasses lineup
Meta has introduced a standalone smart‑glasses collection, ending its previous collaboration with Ray‑Ban. The range includes three frame styles – Meta Adventure, Meta Fury and the Starfire Kylie Edition – and is priced from about $299 to $379 (CAD $409 for the entry model). The glasses operate without an augmented‑reality display, relying on Meta’s proprietary Spark AI to offer real‑time contextual assistance.
Key hardware features include a 12 MP camera, open‑ear speakers, a six‑microphone array, up to eight hours of battery life, and a charging case. Design elements focus on comfort and practicality: adjustable nose pads, redesigned hinges, and compatibility with prescription lenses through a new RX lens‑swap program. Privacy safeguards such as a visible recording indicator and tamper‑detection alerts are built in. The lineup is produced in partnership with EssilorLuxottica, giving users access to a broad menu of lens options and 26 color‑lens combinations, while the Kylie Jenner‑inspired frame adds a fashion‑forward option.
The launch positions Meta’s glasses as a more affordable entry point into AI‑enabled wearables, targeting everyday users who value usability, personalization, and privacy.
