Meta launches affordable AI‑powered smart glasses with EssilorLuxottica
Meta announced the Meta Glasses, a new line of AI‑enabled smart glasses priced at US$299 (about R$1,552). The range includes three frame designs – the rectangular Adventurer, the bold Fury, and a thin oval edition made with Kylie Jenner – offering 26 colour and lens combinations produced by EssilorLuxottica.
The glasses feature a 12‑MP camera, video recording up to 3 K at 30 fps, open‑ear speakers, a microphone array, and up to eight hours of battery life with a charging case that adds another 40 hours. A dedicated button activates Meta AI, powered by the Muse Spark model, enabling voice queries, real‑time translation in 20 languages, object identification and multimodal visual assistance.
Meta positions the device as a “more exciting hardware category of the AI era” and aims to make smart glasses a daily wearable rather than a niche fashion accessory. The launch follows the previous Ray‑Ban Meta Gen 2 priced at US$379 and expands availability beyond the United States and Canada to markets such as Brazil.
