Meta launches development of its own prediction market app 'Arena

Meta, the company led by Mark Zuckerberg, is creating a new application named "Arena" that will let users make predictions on future events. The platform will operate separately from Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Messenger and will initially use a virtual‑points system rather than real money, though the company does not rule out cash betting in the future.

The move follows Meta’s earlier experiment, the Forecast app (2020‑2022), and is aimed at tapping a rapidly expanding prediction‑market sector that reportedly reached over $130 billion in transaction volume in 2026. Competitors such as Polymarket and Kalshi already host large betting markets, while firms like FanDuel, DraftKings, Gemini and Trump Media & Technology Group are also planning similar services. Meta hopes to leverage its more than 3.5 billion daily users to drive adoption of the new platform.
