Meta AI-powered Ray‑Ban glasses launch in South Korea
Meta and eyewear maker EssilorLuxottica have introduced their AI‑enabled Ray‑Ban glasses, branded as Meta AI glasses, to the South Korean market. The three major telecom operators—SK Telecom, KT and LG Uplus—began official sales, offering the Wayfarer‑style models at 690,000 won for the standard version and 740,000 won for the polarized version. Customers on selected mobile plans can receive monthly installment discounts of up to about 24,000 won, with LG Uplus’s Mania Device program providing subsidies of up to 80 % for high‑tier plans. The glasses feature voice‑activated interaction with Meta AI, real‑time translation (including Korean), five microphones, open‑ear speakers, IPX4 water resistance, and up to eight hours of battery life (up to 48 hours with the optional charging case). A US reviewer also examined the prescription‑focused version, noting its design and comfort. The launch marks the first domestic availability of the globally‑promoted AI eyewear.
