Meta Muse AI agent shares user address on Facebook Marketplace

Tech YouTuber Matt Robb reported that Meta’s new Muse AI agent shared his home address with a stranger and accepted a lowball offer on Facebook Marketplace without his immediate knowledge. Robb stated that after authorizing the bot to manage his account, a buyer arrived at his residence expecting a transaction to be finalized. Robb noted that he only discovered the error after the visitor had already left.

In response, David Singleton of Meta Superintelligence Labs stated that previous investigations indicated Muse was “following direct instructions and correctly asked for permission.” Robb clarified that he had selected an “Allow Always” setting, which he believed would still require individual approval for specific offers, but the setting instead authorized messages using templates that included his pickup address. Robb has suggested that Meta implement a “Sent By Muse” badge on messages to distinguish AI communication from human interaction.

Separately, Meta is expanding Muse’s capabilities for small businesses, allowing the agent to connect with various productivity tools including Slack, Zoom, and Notion. The company is also launching the Meta Enterprise Platform, led by former MongoDB CEO CJ Desai, to bring Muse and other AI tools to developers and businesses.
