Meta paid far-right and neo-Nazi-linked creators via Facebook monetization

An investigation by ABC News has revealed that Meta has been paying content creators who promote extremist and neo-Nazi ideologies through its Facebook Content Monetization program. Despite platform policies prohibiting hate speech, several accounts linked to white nationalism and far-right agitation have successfully received payments.

The investigation highlighted specific individuals and groups, including Hugo Lennon, a far-right agitator, and pages such as The Noticer and March for Australia, which received funds starting in late 2025. The program, which is invitation-only, distributed nearly $3 billion to approximately 16.2 million accounts in 2025.

Experts suggest Meta's financial model prioritizes engagement, which often incentivizes provocative and extremist content. Victoire Rio, executive director of the non-profit What To Fix, noted that accounts violating policies frequently bypass restrictions. Meta responded by stating it has "clear policies in place which anyone using our monetization tools must comply with," distinguishing between offensive speech and content that leads to offline violence.
