Meta Platforms' cloud push rattles Polish equities and AI chip stocks

Meta Platforms announced plans to launch its own cloud services, prompting a sharp sell‑off in AI‑related infrastructure companies such as CoreWeave and Nebius. The news spurred a broader market narrative shift, with analysts questioning whether the AI‑compute demand model is entering a new phase of asset‑utilisation and monetisation.

In Poland, the GPW index rose, led by gains in Allegro (+2.01%), Modivo (+3.88%) and Dino (+2.11%). Other European markets showed mixed moves, while U.S. indices saw a modest rotation from semiconductor names toward Big‑Tech stocks. The reaction was interpreted as a short‑term correction rather than a fundamental change in long‑term AI‑hardware demand, as major players like Microsoft, Amazon and Alphabet continue expanding data‑center capacity.

Analysts note that excess compute capacity may be monetised, but overall structural demand for advanced chips and high‑bandwidth memory remains strong, driven by generative‑AI models and expanding consumer and business applications.
