Romania's Cadastre Agency Set to Resume After Week-Long Cyberattack

A cyberattack that began last week crippled the National Agency for Cadastre and Real Estate Publicity (ANC PI), blocking access to the land‑registry database for about ten days. Government officials said the breach did not compromise property‑ownership data. The agency’s application is being transferred to a government‑run cloud, and a security audit by the Special Telecommunications Service, the Romanian Intelligence Service and the National Cybersecurity Directorate is under way.

Premier Ilie Bolojan announced that, pending final security checks, ANC PI’s operations are expected to restart next week. He also indicated that Parliament will discuss extending the deadline for pre‑sale contracts signed last year so that buyers can still benefit from the reduced VAT rate, offsetting the disruption caused by the outage.
