Meta platforms suffer worldwide outage, Facebook and Instagram down

On June 12, 2026, Meta's social‑media services experienced a global technical failure. Both Facebook and Instagram, including their mobile apps and desktop sites, reported login problems, "Service Unavailable" messages, and slow loading of feeds and reels. Users worldwide, including in Turkey and Cyprus, saw accounts logged out and were unable to post media or send direct messages.

Downdetector and similar outage‑tracking sites recorded thousands of error reports as the disruption began around 06:45 UTC. While Instagram and Facebook were largely offline, other Meta services such as WhatsApp remained functional. Meta has not provided an official status page, and the cause of the outage has not yet been identified.
