Meta Project Phoenix leaks reveal glasses-style XR headset design

Information discovered within a Quest firmware update has provided a preliminary look at Meta’s upcoming hardware, internally referred to as ‘Project Phoenix’. The leaked assets suggest a glasses-like form factor featuring nose pads and sensors located on the temples and underneath the arms.

The device appears to be a tethered headset, likely connecting to a separate, phone-sized compute unit. This design bears similarities to Google’s Aura XR glasses and Xreal products. While specific capabilities and pricing remain unknown, the hardware is expected to utilize XR passthrough technology, similar to the Quest 3, rather than pure AR.

Leaked imagery also demonstrates how prescription lenses are integrated into the device and how its QR code is scanned. Although prototypes have shown a compute puck with a waistband clip and cooling exhaust, the final consumer design may differ.
