Meta Ray‑Ban smart glasses see strong sales in Greece
Meta’s AI‑enabled Ray‑Ban smart glasses, first announced by Mark Zuckerberg in 2020, have become the leading wearable in the Greek market. The first‑generation Wayfarer model starts at about €320, while the second‑generation devices range from €430 to €600 depending on lens type and retailer. Greek Health Minister Adoni Georgiadis was recently photographed wearing the glasses during a visit to Limos, highlighting their visibility in public life.
The success has attracted competition from other technology firms. Samsung is developing its own AI‑powered smart glasses priced around €600‑€700, OpenAI is exploring entry into physical devices, and Chinese maker Rokid offers AR glasses with real‑time translation and voice assistance for roughly €400. These developments indicate a growing market for AI‑driven wearables in Europe.
