Meta reaches $17B settlement over youth social media safety

Meta has reached a $17 billion settlement with California and 46 other states to address concerns regarding youth social media safety and addiction. As part of the agreement, approximately $1.5 billion will be directed to California to fund student mental health prevention programs. Meta is also required to implement specific safety measures for users under 18 on Instagram and Facebook, including daily usage limits, reduced notifications, and the elimination of personalized algorithmic feeds.

Separately, the national average for regular gasoline rose to $4.08 per gallon, according to AAA. This increase is attributed to rising crude oil prices following military strikes between the United States and Iran.

Additionally, Donald Trump announced a $65 billion energy agreement with Venezuela, a move described as a significant shift in international relations and U.S. energy policy.
