Meta restores posts removed from Kerala CM's Facebook page

Meta has restored several posts that were previously removed from the official Facebook page of Kerala Chief Minister VD Satheesan. The removed content included welfare notices regarding festival allowances for ASHA workers and Milad-un-Nabi greetings.

Following a “strong intervention” from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), the posts were returned online. However, Chief Minister Satheesan expressed significant concern regarding the vulnerability of verified government communications on social media platforms, describing the removals as arbitrary.

The matter has been formally escalated by the Secretary to the Chief Minister, Rattan U. Kelkar, to both Meta and the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). The CMO is seeking a formal explanation under the provisions of the IT Act to determine whether the takedowns were the result of manual intervention or automated systems, and is requesting safeguards to protect official public communication handles.
