Meta revamps WhatsApp Business account model, allowing multiple integrations

Meta announced that the WhatsApp Business Platform will adopt a new account structure, called Account Model Evolution, effective 23 September. The change lets a single phone number be linked to several parallel integrations—such as API connections, Business Solution Providers, and Meta Business Suite tools—each with its own billing and message handling. Migration of existing accounts will run until 15 October, and continued use of the platform or the Inbox area is taken as acceptance of the updated terms. Small‑scale users who operate WhatsApp Business only on a mobile device are not required to make any changes.

Separately, users are warned that adding special telephone numbers to WhatsApp to access chatbot or AI services can trigger the app’s security mechanisms, potentially resulting in a temporary account suspension. Services like Bitdefender’s Scamio and Nord Security’s NordBot can analyse suspicious messages, but caution is advised when using such numbers.
