Meta platforms face three‑hour worldwide outage

On Friday 12 June 2026, starting at about 15:00 CET, the core services of Meta – Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp – went offline for roughly three hours. Users across Europe, the Americas and Asia reported blank screens, endless loading icons and error notices such as “This page is not available” and generic “Query Error”. The problem affected both mobile and desktop accesses, disconnected accounts, halted story and Reel playback, and disrupted the Ads Manager used by businesses to run campaigns.

Downdetector’s monitoring charts spiked sharply as reports flooded in, temporarily overwhelming the site itself. Meta’s spokesperson Andy Stone announced on X that the platforms were being restored but warned that full functionality would take additional time. No cause for the outage was disclosed. The interruption raised concerns for advertisers and content creators who rely on continuous service for traffic and revenue.

The incident highlighted the global reliance on Meta’s social‑media ecosystem, with millions of users forced to use alternative channels to discuss the outage while the company worked to bring the services back online.
