Meta shifts internal communications from Google Chat to Slack

Meta is transitioning its internal communication infrastructure from Google Chat to Slack. According to an internal note from Alexandr Wang, Meta's AI lead, the decision is driven by Slack's superior environment for AI agents.

Slack's conversational interface, developer tools, and third-party integrations allow AI agents to operate within channels and message threads to query data and initiate tasks. The platform connects with various enterprise applications such as Asana, Box, and Workday, enabling employees to perform tasks directly within the communication interface rather than switching between apps.

While Meta is moving its messaging to Slack to support AI-driven workflows, the company is not abandoning all Google services. Google Chat will remain in use for specific functions, including Gemini support, file sharing, and Google Workspace integration.
