Meta targets billions of users for personal AI agents by 2029

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that personal AI agents could be used by billions of people within the next five years. He said the agents would operate continuously, understand owners' goals and assist with tasks ranging from finance and health to household management. Meta highlighted that its messaging apps, especially WhatsApp, already host AI agents used by more than one million companies, and that users will soon interact with multiple digital assistants at once.

Following the earnings release, Meta's shares fell about 10%, and the Reality Labs division reported another multi‑billion‑dollar loss. The company also disclosed a joint $14 billion data‑centre project with investment firm BlackRock to support its expanding AI operations.
