Meta tests Forum, a standalone app for Facebook Groups

Meta is testing Forum, a standalone app designed specifically for Facebook Groups. The app, which is currently available for download in the US on iOS and Android, syncs with existing Facebook groups to provide a centralized feed for community conversations.

As part of the testing phase, Meta is introducing several new features. This includes a new member-recognition role intended to replace previous contributor badges and expert roles. This role recognizes top community voices based on the quality of their contributions, such as answering questions or sharing practical tips. Members granted this role receive a new badge and benefits like faster post publishing.

Additionally, Meta is testing AI-driven enhancements to its ‘Ask’ search tool within the Forum app to help users find answers grounded in real community experiences. Other tests include interest labels on posts to help users browse topics more effectively. While the new recognition role is being tested on Facebook globally, the Forum app and its AI features are currently limited to the US.
