Meta tests full‑screen video feed on Facebook to curb TikTok migration

Meta Platforms plans a major redesign of Facebook, introducing a full‑screen video‑first experience that will launch in a trial later this year. The test will start in markets where users favor video content, with a possible rollout to the United States next year. CEO Tom Alisson said the change aims to keep users from moving to rival short‑form platforms such as TikTok, which has surpassed 1 billion monthly users while Facebook’s growth has slowed.

Meta disclosed a loss of 20 million users in the first quarter of 2026. The company previously added Reels to Instagram in 2020 to compete with TikTok and is now extending similar video‑centric features to Facebook. It also launched a new “Seller” app to help Marketplace vendors manage listings and sales.

The redesign reflects Meta’s broader strategy to make video the central hub for discussion, community building, and commerce on its flagship social network.
