Meta launches TikTok‑style full‑screen video feed test for Facebook

Meta is testing a redesigned Facebook experience that opens directly to a full‑screen, vertical video feed, mirroring TikTok’s format. The trial will start in a set of "video‑heavy" markets later in 2026, with plans to expand to the United States in 2027. Users in the test see recommended short‑form videos as the home screen; the classic News Feed is moved to a second tab and can be restored at any time.

The rollout was announced by Tom Alison, head of the Facebook app, as part of Meta’s effort to regain younger users and boost engagement against TikTok. Alongside the video‑first interface, Meta is launching a free verification badge called “Facebook Verified,” which uses a short selfie video for identity confirmation, and a standalone Marketplace seller app named “Seller” plus a community‑focused app “Forum.” These moves aim to diversify Facebook beyond social networking into commerce, creator tools, and stronger user safety.

Meta says the test will run while gathering feedback before deciding on a wider release.
