Meta unveils lower‑priced AI glasses developed with EssilorLuxottica

At the VivaTech event, several wearable firms highlighted a shift toward devices that fade from the wearer’s awareness. Meta announced a new line of smart glasses under its own brand, called Meta Glasses, created in partnership with EssilorLuxottica, the owner of Ray‑Ban. The new models retain the Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 processor, a 12‑megapixel camera, eight‑hour battery life and connectivity features of the Ray‑Ban Meta, but are offered at lower prices – Adventurer and Fury frames at €309 (about €110 cheaper) and the Starfire oval frame at €419.

The launch reflects a broader industry trend to make wearables less conspicuous, as seen in other products such as Stellest smart glasses for myopia control and InBrain Neuroelectronics neural implants aimed at neurological disorders. By reducing the cost and keeping the design subtle, Meta aims to broaden consumer adoption of AI‑enabled eyewear.
